Rallycross In Hell is an independent magazine for fans of rallycross cars, drivers and championships across the United States, Canada and beyond. We name names, we track engines, and we file the kind of pre-race detail you used to get on the back page of a glossy print monthly. The flame in our logo is a wink to Hell, Norway — the literal village six kilometers from the legendary Lankebanen circuit.
What This Magazine Covers
Rallycross is short, it is loud, and it is misunderstood. Stage rally happens one car at a time on closed roads. Rallycross puts five cars side by side on a 1,000-meter mixed-surface lap, with one mandatory detour known as the joker lap. World RX, the FIA series that defined the modern era, was wound down after the 2025 season. The FIA European Rallycross Championship is now the highest international tier, and a one-off FIA Rallycross World Cup lands in Jakarta on December 5–6, 2026.
Three pillar guides anchor this site:
- Best rallycross teams and leagues — every series worth your time in 2026, from FIA Euro RX to SCCA grassroots
- Top rallycross drivers and cars — the people, the machines and the engines, brand by brand
- Latest world rallycross news — a dated monthly digest you can actually trust
Top Teams and Leagues — 2026 at a Glance
The 2026 grid reads like a reunion tour. Eight-time champion Johan Kristoffersson is back in Euro RX1 for the first time since 2014, lining up alongside teammate Ole Christian Veiby in the dominant Volkswagen Polo KMS 601 RX. The Hansen brothers — Timmy and Kevin — return to a full schedule in the Peugeot 208 WRX after sponsorship trouble cost them the 2025 finale. Three-time European champion Andreas Bakkerud has stepped out of the commentary booth and committed to a full Euro RX1 campaign.
Across the Atlantic, the rebooted RallyX Americas series opens at Crandon International Raceway on June 20–21, with the all-electric First Corner FC1-X hypercar inherited from the defunct Nitrocross. Hansen Motorsport, JC Raceteknik, Olsbergs MSE and SET Promotion are all confirmed as Hypercar partner teams, with Indianapolis-based Dreyer & Reinbold Racing on board as series partner.

Drivers, Cars and Engines
An RX1 supercar is one of the most violent machines in motorsport. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder spits out roughly 600 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque, channeled through a Sadev six-speed sequential and four driven wheels. The whole car weighs about 1,300 kg fully fueled, which is why launch acceleration shames a Formula 1 car off the line.
The cast of cars is a shop window of European engineering. The KMS Polo is the benchmark. The Hansen Peugeot 208 WRX is the fan favorite. Niclas Gronholm runs a Hyundai i20 RX1 for GRX-SET. Patrick O'Donovan, the defending Euro RX1 champion, drives the only competitive Mellors Elliot-built Proton Iriz RX. JC Raceteknik keeps the Audi S1 EKS lineage alive.
If you want to spice up Sunday afternoons during the season, plenty of North American fans bet on Motorsport while they watch the joker laps unfold on the official FIA Rallycross YouTube stream. Meet the rally cars and engine types in the dedicated guide.

Why Hell, Why Now
Lankebanen, just outside the village of Hell in Norway's Trondelag region, opened in 1987 as the country's first dedicated motorsport-and-driver-training centre. From 2014 to 2022 it hosted the World RX of Norway under the unforgettable "Rallycross in Hell" banner. Petter Solberg, Mattias Ekstrom, Timmy Hansen, Andreas Bakkerud and Johan Kristoffersson have all stood on the top step at that 1,019-meter mix of asphalt and gravel.
The 2026 international calendar does not include Hell — but the circuit still runs national HellRX rounds, and it is officially licensed in iRacing as Lankebanen (Hell RX). Sim racers in Toronto and Tucson can lap the same surface the pros do. That stubborn cult is why this magazine exists: rallycross has always been bigger than its calendar.
